We would like to invite you on Scientific Seminar of the III Department

mózg             msc Magdalena Morawiec and msc Bartosza Jura from Laboratory of Modeling and Electrophysiological Methods
will speak about:

Mysterious properties of ripples: co-recordings of brain electrical activity and intracranial functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy signals in freely moving animals

The seminar will take place in Morecki's Hall, Thursday, April 5th at 12.

Abstract
We will present the project in which we perform simultaneous recordings of brain electrical activity (Local Field Potentials) and blood oxygenation signals using functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy technique (fNIRS) with optodes implanted in the brain of freely moving animals. Special focus will be put on the hippocampal Sharp-Wave Ripple (SWRs) complexes which are thought to facilitate consolidation of memory traces during sleep. We will describe results that we have obtained thus far and show how the SWRs and other hippocampal events affect energy consumption in the local neuronal populations.
