Competition for the position of Research Fellow in the Department of Hybrid and Analytical Microbiosystems at the Nalecz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, Polish Academy of Sciences (full-time position)
Research in Department I concerns advanced electrochemical and optoelectronic bioanalytical technologies, including biosensors and microcircuits designed for multiparameter biochemical analysis in biomedical applications such as body fluid studies and in vitro cell culture monitoring. Current work on bioanalytical microtools focuses on the development of novel DNA-based bioreceptors, surface biofunctionalisation for creating bioreceptor layers, and the detection of selected markers of various diseases—including neurodegenerative and autoimmune disorders. We also investigate the determination of protein products and metabolites related to protein metabolism, as well as other bioactive compounds, including pharmaceuticals.
Scope of research to be carried out by the employee
The planned work involves research and development on the development of biosensors and new bioreceptor layers, enabling protein characterisation, analysis of molecular interactions in bioreceptor-analyte systems, and the use of optical and electrochemical methods, with special regard to surface plasmon resonance. Techniques available in the laboratory include surface plasmon resonance and electrochemical methods, such as impedance spectroscopy, FTIR spectrometry, and UV-Vis spectrophotometry.
The planned work includes research and development aimed at creating biosensors and new bioreceptor layers for specific protein detection and for analysing molecular interactions within bioreceptor–analyte (small/large systems). The project will employ both optical and electrochemical approaches, including surface plasmon resonance. The laboratory is equipped with surface plasmon resonance instrumentation as well as a range of electrochemical techniques, such as impedance spectroscopy, FTIR spectrometry, and UV–Vis spectrophotometry.
