Job Description
The M. Nałęcz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering PAS is seeking a candidate for the position of Assistant (Postdoctoral Researcher in a project financed by National Science Centre Poland) in the Laboratory of Biosensors and Analytical Microsystems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting scientific experiments in accordance with the project schedule of the NCN SONATA BIS project entitled:
“Study on novel sensing layers for determination of quorum sensing signal molecules”, led by Kamila Sadowska, DSc, PhD, Eng.
Main Responsibilities
The aim of the project is to investigate the properties of electrochemical sensors based on molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) designed for the detection of selected autoinducers secreted by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The studied autoinducers include derivatives of acyl-homoserine lactones and 2-heptyl-3-hydroxy-4-quinolones.
- Optimization of molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) synthesis methods
- Physicochemical characterization of MIPs (electrochemical, microscopic, and spectrophotometric measurements, including FTIR and UV–Vis)
- Fabrication of MIP-based sensors for autoinducer detection
- Evaluation of metrological parameters of MIP sensors in laboratory and biological samples
- Statistical analysis of experimental results
- Graphical data processing (e.g. Origin, MATLAB)
- Preparation of reports and scientific publications
Eligibility Requirements
- PhD degree in chemical sciences, materials engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline, obtained within 7 years prior to 1 January of the year of employment
(for women, 18 months per child are added to this period). Applications from candidates who have not yet defended their PhD thesis may also be considered, provided that positive reviews of the doctoral dissertation are available. - Documented experience in the synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP), confirmed by scientific publications with the candidate as first author.
- Documented experience in:
o Electrochemical methods (e.g. voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy)
o Surface characterization techniques (e.g. FTIR, SEM) - Good command of English (spoken and written).
- Ability to prepare research grant proposals.
- Indication of IBIB PAN as the primary place of employment.
